This information is intended for IT/integrations/ClassLink administrators at schools and Districts.
At This is School, we’re delighted to offer a full integration with ClassLink: SSO and rostering. If you’d like to begin rostering via ClassLink, please read this article carefully.

- Requirements for your data setup
- FAQs
Steps for beginning rostering with ClassLink
Contact info@thisisschool.com to agree a date for a full data reset to clear out old data. (All data will be removed, but any accounts you wish to keep will be reactivated via the ClassLink sync, provided the username/email address is an exact match.)
Prepare your data in ClassLink according to the data requirements below.
Notify us via info@thisisschool.com of the date that you would like to enable the ClassLink sync, giving at least two weeks’ notice.
Data Requirements
Data must be provided correctly in order to ensure an accurate and seamless sync. Please read the following requirements very carefully:
NB: In addition to the requirements above, you must let us know at the earliest possible opportunity if, at any stage, you intend to do a total data replacement that will change your source IDs (removal and re-adding of all users/classes).
FAQs
- We already use This is School. What will happen to our existing accounts?
- Existing accounts with a matching email or username in the ClassLink data will be automatically connected and the data will merge.
- If ClassLink provides a new user not yet in the system, a new account will be created.
- Existing accounts that are not included in the ClassLink sync will remain unchanged but won’t be linked to a ClassLink ID. In the majority of cases, we will recommend that these accounts be removed.
- Can we create non-teacher accounts (e.g. for co-teachers, admins, principals)?
- Only users with the ‘Teacher’ or ‘Student’ role in ClassLink will be synced.
- If access is needed for non-teachers, schools must either assign a ‘Teacher’ role in ClassLink.
- All users with the ‘Teacher’ role will be synced (and have access to This is School) regardless of whether they are enrolled in a class.
Will users be able to make changes to classes or accounts through This is School?
No, all changes to accounts or classes must be made via ClassLink:
- Neither teachers nor support staff can make manual edits within This is School.
- Teachers will no longer be able to create custom classes, such as “Advanced” or “Tutorial” groups. (Although they will still be able to assign work to individual students within a class for differentiation purposes.)
- How often will our data be updated on This is School?
- Data syncs occur every 24 hours, so changes made in ClassLink may take up to a day to appear on This is School.
